Any additional insight on Cotie 3 point struggles? Is it on all 3s or just certain types?
I wonder if it makes sense for her to pick out 1 spot (right corner or left elbow) and get comfortable with a rhythm catch-and-shoot from just that one spot. Might build confidence, or at least keep defenses honest.
Region wise, Cotie was average from the left wing (12/36) and was almost completely blanked from every where else combined (2/23), so that would be the spot that would make sense. Watching her, it has always felt like she started settling for threes if the middle was too congested, but it felt like she was just playing into the defense's hands since the shot wasn't consistent. Hoping she's gotten better at moving the ball around or finding a better look than just firing away when that's what the defense wants (or a much-improved three ball, either would work!)
I will admit to NOT being a long time watcher of Kevin McGuff teams, so I have to wonder...how quickly can the press come together with all these new faces?
Is this the sort of thing that could be a challenge early but comes together late in the season? I honestly don't know, but I feel like that pressure has been so crucial the last few years it could really matter.
I am curious how much the defense looks the same in a post-Sheldon world. The press (to my knowledge at least) was not a staple of every McGuff team, but he leaned into it with Sheldon and co. because he had the right players to wreak havoc. McMahon and Thierry are great defenders so it could still work, but I'm expecting to see less frequent press unless this team is really clicking fast
